In a world fixated with beauty based on external appearances, the past few years have revealed something more precious: the beauty of goodness. The goodness of treating people right, of tending to animals who cannot speak for themselves, of cleaning up the environment for future generations, of unconditionally helping those around you. Early this year, Mamaearth and Femina joined hands to search nationwide for goodness ambassadors among creators, corporates, celebrities and people in general. It was the genesis of Mamaearth & Femina Present Beautiful Indians 2022.

The Beautiful Indians website served as a platform to which individuals could send in their nominations. These were both self nominations as well as recommendations from individuals of people who have been selflessly doing acts of goodness for those around them. The website received a heart-warming number of entries, which were then shortlisted by our eminent jury.

“We started Mamaearth with a vision to serve a greater purpose,” says cofounder Ghazal Alagh, adding, “We made our products toxin free, and initiated brand promises such as Plant Goodness and Plastic Positive. We have always believed that doing little acts of goodness makes people truly beautiful. With this thought, we partnered with Femina, the epitome of beauty standards, to join us in this journey of finding Beautiful Indians and celebrating them at the event. We hope this partnership grows and we are able to identify and celebrate more such stories in the future as well.”

Editor-In-Chief of Femina Ambika Muttoo said, “We, at Femina, believe that every noble deed, no matter how small or big, is beautiful. These acts and the individuals leading the change have enriched our lives by making the world a better place. Our association with Mamaeath sees us taking the next big step towards celebrating these unsung heroes. Through our nationwide search to recognise these goodness ambassadors, we have sought to inspire and encourage our readers to bring about change for the better.”
