Team Reptile has announced via Twitter that Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has been pushed back from its previously planned 2022 release to the Summer of 2023.
The upcoming 3D platformer, which is expected to be the successor to SEGA’s classic Jet Set Radio, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, has seen its release date delayed to next year. The firm release date has yet to be announced but players will have to wait a year longer to start their own cypher and dance.
“We are convinced that releasing the game this year will not take it to a level where we would be personally satisfied with. To create a fulfilling and unique game we are extending the development time of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk to summer 2023. We will be dumping a lot more visuals this week to show how it is shaping up.” developer Team Reptile outlined in their announcement.
The good news is that Team Reptile also stated they will share more visuals in the coming days to give a brief idea of what to expect from the game. You can watch the short gameplay footage released via the studio’s official Twitter account below, showing off how players will use their boostpacks to combine their moves to create electrifying combos. Suffice it to say, it will require a good hand sync to keep the combo going.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk joins the long list of delayed games, which includes the likes of Forspoken, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Hogwarts Legacy, and Deliver Us Mars. Given some of the biggest games have been pushed back to a later date, it is comprehensible that Team Reptile needs more time to polish the game in order to offer the best possible grinding, sliding, tricking, and wall-running experience. The community has already welcomed the decision by showing their support to the development team.
As for the game itself, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a single-player, action platformer in which players will explore a three-dimensional street as a member of a self-styled crew. According to the game’s description, players will paint graffiti, dance to reflect their unique style, and challenge the other crews to get their names up. However, the main goal is to create good enough combos to go into Bomb Rush Mode, where players will earn infinite boost power.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be available in the Summer of 2023 for Nintendo Switch and PC, via Steam.
