Borderlands Movie Is Reportedly Getting Reshoots from Deadpool’s Tim Miller Instead of Eli Roth

Despite rumors that Deadpool’s Tim Miller has replaced Eli Roth as the director of the Borderlands film, the truth appears to be that Miller is just handling a couple of weeks of reshoots while Roth begins work on another project.

As reported by Deadline, Roth had to start his work on Thanksgiving, which is a horror film that’s based on a mock trailer Roth previously made for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse movie.

Deadline has said that the Borderlands situation is an “amicable handling of the baton,” and in no way means Roth is being fired from the movie based on the gaming franchise.

As for Thanksgiving, it debuted in 2007 and teased a fake film about a slasher who is terrorizing a town in Massachusetts that just loves Thanksgiving. It became very popular and plans were put in place to bring the fake movie to life, but we are still waiting for that day some 15 years later.

Besides knowing the star-studded cast featuring Jack Black as Claptrap, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis, and Kevin Hart as Roland, we still don’t have the clearest idea as to what this film will end up being.

We were treated to a glimpse of Claptrap when filming wrapped in June 2021 and press saw about a minute of footage at CinemaCon 2022 last April, but the public has yet to see the film in action. Oh, and we can’t forget about the set visit from 2021.

The Borderlands movie is being directed by Roth, who is writing the script alongside The Last of Us’ Craig Mazin, and follows Blanchett’s Lilith and her quest to return to the planet of Pandora to recover the missing daughter of “the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas.”

It still may be some time until the Borderlands movie hits theaters, so be sure to check out all the other video game movie and TV shows on the way to help with the wait.
