Canon launched the PowerShot SX740 HS, a compact travel zoom camera small in size and with the capacity to zoom to up to 40x optically. The camera will be starting to retail in the US for $399 (approx. Rs 27,370) and will soon be available in other parts of the globe including India.
It features a DIGIC 8 Image Processor, dual-sensing image stabilization, automatic image transfer, feature assistant and a 3.0-inch LCD screen that rotates 180 degrees. With high-speed continuous shooting up to 7.4fps and along with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology the PowerShot SX740 HS spans across a focal range equivalent to 24-960mm in contrast to a traditional 35mm lens together with a variable aperture of f/3.3 to f/6.9.
The model also becomes the latest recipient of 4K UHD video recording, and this is supported by 5-axis image stabilisation which will keep recording steadily. With the latest entry, a shift from Full HD to 4K Ultra HD video seems eminent and it also includes the time-lapse mode in 4K grabbing up to 8 MP. ISO sensitivity ranges from 80 to 3200, with a maximum of ISO 1600 in auto mode. Shutter speeds range between 15 seconds and 1/3200 second. The optical zoom which is 40x could be stretched to 80x under ZoomPlus feature and could be used if one is ready to compromise on the image quality.
“We remain committed to incorporating the latest technologies and innovations into Canon products that help meet the needs of our customers, as we continue to grow the popular PowerShot SX-series, we are excited to offer more imaging solutions that encourage visual storytelling,” said Kazuto Ogawa, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc.
