Countdown beauty Carol Vorderman, 62, shared an unapologetic insight into her personal life in a new interview.

The maths whizz insisted that in her sixties, “the goal of my life is to be happy, not to be in love”.

Carol has divided opinion on her non-conventional approach to romantic relationships, but she explained her “special friends system” is doing no harm to her, those involved, and her family.

The star is currently seeing five “special friends”, who are all single, with Carol admitting she wouldn’t be bothered if any of them meet someone else.

Carol revealed her grown-up children, daughter Katie, 30, and son Cameron, 26, have even met most of her “special friends” before.

The twice-divorced TV legend shares her two children with ex-husband Patrick King, whom she was married to for 10 years before their split in 2000.

She told Daily Mail’s You Magazine: “I’m continuing with that system and it’s working very well.

“One’s been a friend for 11 years, one for seven. My kids know most of them.”

The Perfect 10 Podcast host added: “I’m not a jealous person and I’m happy when my friends are happy, whether they are ‘special friends’ or not.”

Carol went on to share the secrets behind her age-defying appearance, as she embraces health treatments to keep her looking and feeling good.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star regularly works out in the gym with a personal trainer.

She has also tried out fasting, turmeric, hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The Cambridge University graduate takes spermicide tablets to stimulate mitochondria in regenerating cells and to help ward off dementia.

Setting the record straight on the tablets, Carol quipped: “Named after what you might imagine because that’s where it was first found.

“But these tablets are not made from that.”

Carol denies having plastic surgery, but admits to having Botox and P3 facial injections.

However, she feels the cosmetic work is standard for those who work in TV, telling the publication: “Name me someone on telly, male or female, of whatever age, who doesn’t have this stuff!

“But often I don’t brush my hair for days,” Carol, who often refers to herself as a “happy scruff” added.
