Every year, many British tourists pay to visit Italy for a holiday. But one “incredible” region is now offering to pay tourists to visit.

Friuli Venezia Giulia, a northeastern Italian region which borders Slovenia, Austria and the Adriatic Sea, has announced an exciting new scheme.

The region will pay for tourists’ train fares when they travel there for a holiday from another area of Italy.

Tourists will also be given a card offering them free rides on public transport, free entry to museums and discounts at attractions.

The stunning region is aiming to attract more tourists to visit and promote sustainable travel to guests.

To qualify for the attractive scheme, British tourists will need to stay in the region for at least two nights at a participating hotel.

They will also need to have return train tickets from one of five designated train stations in Italy.

The scheme was launched on October 6 and will run until May 31, 2023, giving plenty of tourists the chance to take advantage.

Tourists travelling to the cities of Trieste and Udine are all eligible as well as the coastal resorts of Grado and Lignano Sabbiadoro.

DON’T MISS

To take part in the scheme, guests must arrive into one of the five associated train stations from Italy.

Tourists will need to book an accommodation package and the price of the return train fare will be deducted from the total at the point of payment.

Those staying in Trieste or Udine will be offered a 48 hour tourist card while those staying longer will get a week-long card.

The coastal resorts taking part in the scheme will also offer tourist cards but have fewer tourist attractions.

It’s not the only tourist destination to be offering tourists an attractive offer to visit for a holiday.

After relaxing its Covid rules, Hong Kong will aim to entice tourists back with an incredible free flight offer.

It will give away 500,000 airline tickets to encourage people to visit Hong Kong for a holiday.

The country had had a mandatory quarantine scheme in place since the pandemic started with guests required to pay to stay in hotels.
