Chelsea are understood to be ‘confident’ that they will see a bid for Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang accepted after Blues boss Thomas Tuchel held productive talks with the former Arsenal striker. The west London club are expected to meet with Aubameyang later today to discuss personal terms.

Having allowed Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan and Timo Werner to rejoin RB Leipzig on a permanent deal, Chelsea find themselves somewhat short of options up front. The club’s search for further firepower has now led them to former Gunners frontman Aubameyang, who only departed the Emirates six months ago to join Barcelona.

It now seems the Gabonese forward could well be on the move again as the Blues are pushing to persuade him to return to the Premier League. According to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs, Chelsea feel confident their latest offer to the cash-strapped Catalan club while be enough to entice them into selling the striker.

Though Barca boss Xavi is thought to be keen on retaining Aubameyang this summer, Blues manager Tuchel is said to have spoken with the player to discuss a move to Stamford Bridge. The German is believed to be convinced Aubameyang – a player he knows well from the pair’s time together at Borussia Dortmund – will be open to the move.
