Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ Success Motivates CDPR to Try Out More Projects Across Different Formats and Mediums

Cyberpunk Edgerunners the anime series saw a great response from fans and critics alike. It was also one of the factors that contributed to the recent success of Cyberpunk 2077. Many fans of the anime wanted to enter the world through the game, and CD Projekt Red (CDPR) made the experience better by linking the events of the anime and the video game.

Through these factors and the improvements in the game through patches and updates has helped Cyberpunk 2077 get a second chance in the sun. Through that chance, they have managed to beat all records, including surpassing Witcher 3 in concurrent players and becoming a top seller on Steam.

The success of the series has pushed CDPR to pursue more projects across different mediums that interact with each other. As spotted by VideoGamesChronicle, Michal Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s SVP of Business Development had some fascinating details to share with the fans.

He stated that there are no specific plans for Season 2 for Cyberpunk Edgerunners. However, CD Project now has an appetite to do more in the transmedia space, which could range from linear visual animation to live action. The plans around Season 2 haven’t changed but the studio will share announcements when it is ready to put out more content.

On the topic of Cyberpunk, CDPR just experienced the best third quarter in the history of the company. They recorded consolidated revenues at 246 million PLN ($54.6m). The biggest contributing factor to these sales figures was the recent success of Cyberpunk 2077. They have also recorded 99 million PLN ($21.3 million) in net profit.
