🐈 Good morning, and welcome to Tuesday’s Daily Authority. I’ve spent the last couple of evenings playing Spiritfarer, and it’s the perfect cozy game for the fall season. Also, the main protagonist has a cat called Daffodil, which seals the deal, really.

Battery bonus for S23 Plus, Ultra

SAMSUNG GALAXY S23 PLUS side

For those awaiting the launch of the Galaxy S23 series — which could happen sooner than expected — we’ve got some good news this morning. Galaxy S23 Plus and S23 Ultra battery info has leaked, and it’s particularly excellent news for the Plus variant:

  • The Galaxy S22 Ultra already packed a decent 5,000mAh battery.
  • However, the S22 Plus disappointed with its smaller 4,500mAh battery, a downgrade from its predecessor.
  • The S22 Plus had a rated capacity of 4,370mAh and a typical capacity of 4,500mAh.
  • Great news: According to Dutch outlet Galaxy Club, it looks like we can expect a rated battery capacity of 4,565mAh for the Galaxy S23 Plus, and a typical capacity of 4,700mAh.

Don’t forget the S23 Ultra

It’s not quite such great news for the Galaxy S23 Ultra:

  • The Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to have a rated battery capacity of 4,855mAh and a typical capacity of 5,000mAh.
  • That’s in line with the S22 Ultra, but since a 5,000mAh battery is big for a flagship phone, we’re pretty satisfied with this news.
  • With that said, the S22 Ultra’s battery life was pretty average. Hopefully, Samsung will make some meaningful tweaks to boost battery life with the S23 Ultra.

📺 Hulu’s going up in price next week: The streaming service is raising its rates October 10, so you’ll pay $1 more per month for ad-supported plans and $2 more a month for ad-free subscriptions (The Verge).

Tuesday Thing

mr griff house in attic

I’m not scared, you’re scared. Ok, so I am scared quite a bit…

A Redditor by the name of “Mr Griff” discovered the decaying remains of an old house in his attic.

  • Complete with intact windows, peeling floral wallpaper, light fixtures, and abandoned belongings, it looks like it stepped straight out of a horror movie.
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style abode apparently used to be a two-story building: the owners ran a store out of the ground floor and lived upstairs.
  • Later, the upstairs of the house was sealed off and a large attic was built around it, while the ground floor was converted into a church.
  • This discovery is reminiscent of the not-so-distant history of “Disappointments rooms,” a common practice where family members (often children) with mental or physical disabilities were kept out of sight, allegedly for their own good and the good of society.
  • This practice carried on until well into the 20th century in the US and UK, and spawned such works of fiction as Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre and the 2016 horror movie flop The Disappointments Room.

While we’re on the topic of being scared, check out our pick of new and upcoming Halloween streaming shows and movies, plus the 11 best shows to stream this Halloween.
