Dangan Entertainment Announces 5 Indie Demos at BitSummit X-Roads

Dangan Entertainment announced today (August 5, 2022) the five major titles that will be showcased online at the upcoming Japanese indie gaming event BitSummit X-Roads on August 6 and 7.

According to the announcement, the company will release demo versions of Recall: Empty Wishes, The Witch’s House MV, and Loretta on Steam for the duration of BitSummit. This will happen along with an update for the currently available demo versions of Hunt the Night and Tactical Galactical. As for The Witch’s House MV, which is already available on PC, it will get released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox (whether this will be current-gen or last-gen console releases is currently unknown) in the second half of 2022.

Recall: Empty Wishes

Recall: Empty Wishes, releasing in Q2 2023 is a story-driven psychological thriller based in Taiwan during the 2010s. It is currently being developed by Hook Puff Studio, a Taiwanese developer, and is made to reflect the culture of Taiwanese students during that time. The story is centred around the investigation of Tommy Lin, the player will enter the memories of characters and uncover hidden truths. The game has non-linear storytelling and combines elements of fantasy along with horror, mystery and puzzle solving. An official trailer was also released.

The demo version available during Bitsummit will allow players to experience the opening two chapters of the story.

The Witch’s House MV

The Witch’s House is an iconic Japanese horror RPG that heavily emphasizes puzzle solving and jump scares. The new game completely reimagines the graphics and implements new difficulty modes with more events and dialogue. According to the developer, there is a new accessible difficulty that allows for instant retrying, and a harder one that only unlocks if the players reach the true ending. The developer and publisher treat this game as a completely new experience, and they hope players will enjoy the new content that will unlock after the first playthrough.

Loretta

Loretta is a mature psychological thriller story that deals with themes of betrayal, infidelity, relationship problems and social situations that were present in America in the last century. Players will have the freedom to choose dialogue, interact with objects and make decisions involving murder and cover-up. The game derives its inspiration from noir films, Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock and Nabakov’s novel Lolita. The players are free to decide the fate of the characters, and the game will have multiple endings. The release date for Loretta on Steam simply reads “Coming Soon.”

Hunt the Night

Hunt the Night is a retro-style action adventure combining rapid gameplay with dark fantasy lore. The story is set in the ninth age of humanity, where the day is ruled by humans, and the night by vicious creatures. As one of the few remaining humans, you will learn to harness the power of the darkness to fight the night. Players have a wide variety of close and long-ranged attacks and can create their own preferred builds and upgrade their equipment as needed. The game’s release date is not yet decided.

Tactical Galactical

Tactical Galactical combines hex-based real-time strategy mechanics with card battling. Each of the three available commanders will battle for the control of a planet with their own unique card deck. The battlefield is always changing and the game will require speedy decision-making. The game will include both single-player and multiplayer modes where players can participate in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. It will also support cross-play on all platforms. The game’s release date is not yet decided.

The Tactical Galactical Bitsummit demo will have a new tutorial system, an updated scenario and new dialogue with more characters. New sound design, combat cards and an extended final battle, in addition to updated graphics, guides and controller support.
