Phoenix Game Productions has announced the production of its first new original title, Tokyo Underground Killer. The game will be released on PC by the end of 2023, and its store page is already available to view on Steam.

Tokyo Underground Killer is a first-person action game set in the neon-lit cyberpunk metropolis of Tokyo in the near future, and has been created using Unreal Engine 4. The main character is Kobayashi, an Assassin Vampire who engages in insane high-speed battles against the ‘Flatliners’, a murderous organization of demons. In addition to your base mythical sword, Tokyo Underground Killer features a wide variety of supernatural powers, called Blood Skills. There are 13 of them to choose from, as well as 7 other weapons in your arsenal.

Phoenix Game Productions is a Japanese manufacturer that produces and sells independent games in cooperation with developers and publishers not only in Japan but also overseas. The lead artist for Tokyo Underground Killer is Hans Steinbach, a comic artist from Germany who is also known as “Heavy Metal Hanzo”, and the original electronic soundtrack is composed by Andrew Hulshult, an American composer who is known for his works on Doom Eternal, Amid Evil and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin.

In addition to the unique battle elements and vampire powers such as sucking the blood of defeated enemies, players will be able to go to Shinjuku after completing missions and acquire goods from idols and bands to display in their personal room. Multiple locations based on real-life Tokyo like Shinjuku, Akihabara or Shibuya are portrayed in surreal neon-drenched versions, constructing a bizarre world filled with craziness and insanity.

The product’s goal is to combine Japanese and Western design ideas into a wild mix of fast-paced action and fever-dreamish exploration of Tokyo, according to the official website announcement. Players can now add Tokyo Underground Killer to their Wishlist on Steam, and follow the developer on Twitter for more updates.
