After the trailer was shown, Hideo Kojima, the creator of Death Stranding, appeared on stage to share more information about the game. He revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic had influenced the narrative of the game, leading him to “re-write the whole thing from scratch.”

The official Twitter account for Kojima Productions also noted that Death Stranding 2, which is currently referred to as DS2 in the trailer, is a working title for the project. It is not clear when the game will be released.
