Diablo IV Comparisons Show Solid Performance on All Platforms

With the early access to the open beta now having kicked off, the very first Diablo IV comparisons have been released, showing promising performance.

The open beta became available for those who pre-ordered the highly-anticipated title some days ago, and Tech YouTuber ‘ElAnalistaDebits‘ has now released the very first comparison videos of the game running on different platforms. The YouTuber released a total of three comparison videos over the past few hours, one comparing the Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X|S versions to each other, a video comparing Diablo IV running on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and finally a PlayStation 4/Pro/PS5 comparison video. We’ve included all of them below.

Going by these comparison videos, Blizzard has done a solid job of optimizing the game across all platforms. Between the different PlayStation versions, there’s a clear difference in loading times with the PS5 version loading in roughly 5 seconds, while the PS4 version takes 50 seconds to load. In addition, the PS5 version runs 4K resolution at 60FPS whereas the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions have to settle with 30FPS in 1080p and 1188p respectively.

On Xbox platforms, the differences in resolution and framerate between old-gen and current-gen are somewhat higher with the Xbox One version running the game at 900p at 30FPS. Meanwhile, the Xbox One X version runs the game in a higher resolution than the PS4 Pro version – 1440p@30FPS. On Xbox Series S also manages to run the game at 1440p albeit with a higher framerate (60FPS). As expected, the Xbox Series X runs Diablo IV in 4K resolution at a solid 60FPS.

Comparing the current-gen console and PC versions of the open beta to each other, we see solid 60FPS performance across the board, albeit with a lower resolution on the Series S. Loading times are almost identical between all platforms.

Going by these early comparison videos and very own hands-on with the beta, we’re looking at a great-looking game that performs solidly across the board. “I’ve praised the visuals, but the game’s performance is yet another positive note”, Alessio Palumbo wrote in his article. “The Diablo IV beta doesn’t have DLSS 3 yet (Blizzard will add it for the game’s launch in June), but DLSS 2/Super Resolution on Quality (4K) is more than enough to keep the game running at around 145 FPS with an Intel i7 12700KF and GeForce RTX 4090.”

Diablo IV is releasing on June 3 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
