‘Jalebi’ actress Digangana shares her memories of Lohri with mid-day.com
She says, “I eat a lot of sweets and like to attend Lohri celebrations with my Punjabi friends but we haven`t been able to do that because of the Covid. I`m just hoping that this time I would be able to do some catching up. One of my best memories on set was where we had a sequence of Lohri we ended up celebrating it for real. We ate popcorn, put peanuts in the fire, it`s just a nice vibe with everyone dancing. Initially, I use to think it`s a bonfire and I gravitated with the whole idea like how happy people looked and dancing in the circle around the bonfire so I think it`s a fascination as a kid to see people enjoying and especially dancing . My mother has already made sweets for Lohri, and most of the time she is personally involved, it`s not like that general cooking where she is just instructing. My mother believes festivals bring the family together and I think it’s in my genes as well. You should celebrate every festival as much as you can because it`s about family spirit, it`s about bringing people together.”
