An insane crash brought the NASCAR Xfinity Series to a standstill this afternoon.

In the closing stages at Auto Club Speedway, Brandon Jones’ Toyota Supra was pushed down the track, skidding uncontrollably towards the pit entrance.

The car eventually collided with buffering sand barrels, obliterating several on impact.

The incident required a lengthy cleanup at the beginning of pit road, triggering a 23-minute red flag stoppage in double overtime.

Jones was luckily able to walk away unscathed.

“I got halfway caught on the grass and halfway on the pavement, and the rear tires were in the grass so I could not get anything to grip up for me to get out of that grass,” he said afterwards.

“I saw it coming. I never have hit the sand before. A ton of impact there, and I really didn’t feel much of anything, which is surprising, so good job by those guys.”

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer went on to win the race, claiming the title at his home track for the second time.

“Just an awesome car,” Custer said after the win.

“That thing was just a rocket ship all day. It was unreal how fast we were.”
