Elliot Yeo facing suspension over striking incident in WAFL appearance, West Coast Eagles news

West Coast Eagles star Elliot Yeo’s return to the AFL could be further delayed after his involvement in an ugly striking incident while playing in the WAFL.

Yeo and 2018 premiership teammate Dom Sheed played in West Coast’s WAFL side against Swan Districts as the pair look to build their fitness levels after lengthy AFL absences.

The incident occurred late in the match when Yeo appeared to have his legs taken out by Swan Districts player Aidan Clarke in a marking contest.

As both he and Clarke crashed to the turf, Yeo lashed out at Clarke, who was on his back after the marking contest, and the 28-year-old was placed on report for his actions.

“Elliot Yeo there, got a bit heated. He’s not too happy with that one,” the commentator covering the WAFL match said.

“A little bit of an old chokehold there, goodness gracious me.”

Yeo’s clash with Clarke resulted in a fracas in the final minutes of the match, with the two-time All-Australian leaving the field with his jersey torn in half.

The incident continues what has been a horror season for Yeo, who has played just two AFL matches this season.

If he receives a one-match suspension, he could serve that at the WAFL level this week due to the Eagles’ upcoming AFL bye in round 13. Yeo would then be in line to return for the Friday night clash with Essendon in round 14.
