Elon Musk has launched Subscriptions, which is essentially rebranded “Super Follows” feature, that will let users monetise their content, including tweets, videos, newsletters and more as well as get access to subscriber-only Spaces and special subscriber badges, on Twitter.
“Apply to offer your followers subscriptions of any material, from longform text to hours long video! Just tap on ‘Monetization’ in settings,” he tweeted.
What is Subscriptions
Subscriptions will help people earn monthly income from the content they create on Twitter. The social media company also said that creators may get paid a share of the revenue Twitter earns from Subscriptions “offering your most engaged followers an extra level of access and bonus content.”
Subscriptions availability
Subscriptions are currently available to people in the US who meet the eligibility requirements. They can apply to participate in the Subscriptions program.
Subscription purchases are available globally on Twitter for iPhone and Android, as well as on twitter.com in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Also, interaction with Subscriptions content is only available from an iPhone or Android device.
What it means for users
If you subscribe to someone’s Subscriptions, you will be able to get access to exclusive tweets, bonus content such as newsletters and long videos, and direct interactions with you. Subscribers will also get a badge next to their name.
What features are available in Subscriptions
Subscriptions will allow users to access exclusive tweets, Subscriber badges that will be placed next to their name, and Twitter will include newsletters and other Twitter features as potential bonus content.
Subscription creators can also share a dedicated link to their Subscription page and can host live subscriber-only conversations when they start a Space and select “Only Subscribers can join.”
What are the eligibility criteria
According to Twitter, to be eligible for Subscriptions, a user must meet minimum requirements. The Subscriptions creator must be 18 years or older, have at least 10,000 followers, and have tweeted at least 25 times in the past 30 days.
Moreover, accepted Subscriptions participants must also maintain a minimum of 25 tweets every 30 days, Twitter said.
Who sets the price of Subscriptions?
Creators will be able to set the price of Subscriptions from one of three price points made available by Twitter: $2.99, $4.99, or $9.99.
The price point the subscription creator chooses during setup establishes the price Twitter charges for their subscription offering.
