Everton could sack Rafa Benitez tonight following their shock loss to Norwich, according to reports. Norwich beat Everton 2-1 at Carrow Road to pile more pressure on Benitez. The Toffees supporters held banners at the ground protesting against the Spaniard’s management.

Norwich raced into a 2-0 lead over Everton inside 18 minutes on Saturday.

Michael Keane turned into his own goal before Adam Idah doubled the hosts’ lead.

Richarlison scored a stunning overhead kick to bring his side back into the match on the hour mark.

Everton pushed hard for an equaliser but Dean Smith’s side were resolute at the back and have moved up to 18th in the Premier League table.

But a bad day for Benitez could end up being even worse.

That is because talkSPORT now claims a decision to fire Benitez could come as early as tonight.

Everton have won just one of their last 13 top-flight matches.

They currently sit 15th in the table, just six points above the relegation zone.

Speaking after the defeat, Benitez could not hide his disappointment.

He said: “It is really disappointing because we came here thinking about the win and it is a long journey for the fans who have come to support us. Everyone came here expecting us to win and we couldn’t.

“We conceded two goals through our own mistakes and that makes it a mountain to climb for us. We have to stay professional, concentrate on the next training session and match.

“I am disappointed that we don’t learn and we keep making the same mistakes.

“Richarlison could not play the full 90 as he was coming back from injury. He only had one training session before this game.

“It is really disappointing because they are working so hard, We are doing lots of things that are good for the future, bringing in new players, but we need to be winning on the pitch.”
