Michael Masi could be replaced ahead of the 2022 season, as confirmed by the FIA’s head of F1, Peter Bayer. Masi has been under heavy fire since his controversial role in the 2021 seaso finale, which saw Max Verstappen clinch the title at Lewis Hamilton’s expense. 

An internal FIA investigation has been ongoing surrounding December’s title decider at Yas Marina. 

And while the final verdict is due to be delivered shortly before the start of the new season, Bayer has dropped a major hint that a change court be on the cards.
