In a Japanese Radio Show, Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida states that the next story reveal for the MMO will come in February 2022.
Without a doubt, Final Fantasy XIV is one of the greatest MMOs of our time. With years of heartfelt stories, challenging raid bosses, and gorgeous OSTs, fans have eagerly received each chapter of the franchise.
Though the latest expansion, Endwalker, has only recently launched, fans are already eagerly awaiting the game’s next update. Luckily, game director and producer Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) has recently revealed new details for FFXIV’s future. While he’d previously stated that the game’s next big reveal will be sometime in Spring 2022, we finally have a more specific month to point to – February.
FINAL FANTASY XIV STORY REVEAL – WHAT WE KNOW
Appearing on a Japanese radio show on Radio Mog Station, Yoshi-P spoke about the next journey in Final Fantasy XIV. Supposedly, many more details will be released near the end of February 2022, a surprisingly short timeline. He mentioned major plans for the game’s story, hinting that the next chapter will be even bolder than before.
So far, they’ve mentioned the story will have more of a focus on Lalafell conjurer Krile. The character was originally introduced in FFXIV’s first chapter A Realm Reborn, and has since made appearances in the following three expansions.
Also present at Radio Mog Station was Japanese VA Yuichi Nakamura, who voices Gladiator-turned-Gunbreaker Thancred. He, along with Yoshi-P, mentions that Thancred will also continue to have a role in the game as well. This might not come as a big surprise, as Thancred has remained a major NPC throughout FFXIV since A Realm Reborn, but it’s an exciting detail nonetheless.
All in all, we’ll have to wait and see for more details. It sounds like fans are in for a real treat, and that this next chapter will take Final Fantasy XIV to another level.
The news of the upcoming story update follows the announcement for the release of the Endwalker expansion OST, which will contain 62 total tracks. It’s set for a February 23, 2022 release, which fits within the general timeline for a new FFXIV story reveal. Perhaps we’ll receive more story details within the same week!
