Fourth test Vodafone Test Series 2021 start time, results, news

Good morning and welcome to WWOS’ live coverage of the fourth and final Test between Australia and India at The Gabba.

What a fascinating and combustible series it has been and at 1-1 it is set up perfectly for a blockbuster decider, starting at 11am AEDT.

The big news this morning is that India is considering playing injured fast bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain at the SCG and reports afterwards had him all but ruled out of contention for Brisbane.

Perhaps they are foxing but India team officials now say they will give the 27-year-old until an hour before play before making a decision on his fitness.

It would be a major gamble given that Bumrah could not be replaced if he breaks down as he entered the match with an exisiting injury.

The tourists are already without a galaxy of absent stars, including Ravindra Jadeja (thumb), while SCG hero Hanuma Vihari (hamstring) is also expected to miss.

Key all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has also been battling back pain.

“The injuries are still being monitored,” batting coach Vikram Rathour said last night.

“Our medical staff is working with all the players. We would like to give them as much time as we can.

“We’ll need to wait to tomorrow morning to know how fit (Bumrah) is. If he can play he will play.”

The Courier-Mail reported that spinner Kuldeep Yadav was set to replace Ravindra Jadeja (thumb) and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha would replace Hanuma Vihari (hamstring).

Left-arm white ball star T Natarajan could make his Test debut if Bumrah misses.

The weather forecast is excellent in Brisbane.

A bright day of sunshine is predicted with a high of 32 degrees.
