#Goals: Quarantine style feat. Danielle Steel

0

In quarantine we mortals find ourselves missing showers, unglamorously languishing in raggedy clothes—but not Danielle Steel.

Indeed we expect no less from the author whose author’s portrait features the author and her portrait (in a corseted ballgown, of course), painted by artist Anne Mackintosh.

The couture doyenne and bestselling author, who has written over 170 books, has been giving us “inspirational sweatshirt” looks since the lockdown.

Alongside the #OOTD dispatches are Steel’s reflections on life in lockdown.

“Think of the people who survived wars, the occupation of their countries, who survived the diseases, deprivation and brutality of concentration camps and prison camps,” Steel writes, wearing a red Clare Vivier “Ça suffit!” sweater, “Every day we wake up healthy is a blessing, every day our loved ones are not affected is another blessing.”

Check out some of Danielle Steel’s quarantine style hits, and words of wisdom (including dog-training tips), below.

Straight Talk. My shirt says “That’s Enough!”. It sure is. I’m scared, and you probably are too. I’m under lockdown, and I hope you are too. Total lockdown will get us out of this mess faster than anything. For now, we wake up in the morning, hoping this was a bad dream, and the numbers (of those affected) are worse than the day before. We have to hang tough, this will get worse for a while, before it gets better. Think of the people who survived wars, the occupation of their countries, who survived the diseases, deprivation and brutality of concentration camps and prison camps. Every day we wake up healthy is a blessing, every day our loved ones are not affected is another blessing. The constantly terrifying numbers and info we see on social media are like the bombs that fell on London in the Blitz, terrifying and deafening. Remember, not everyone will get the virus, Most who get it will survive. People in their 80’s are surviving it, age is not an automatic death sentence. Total lockdown is our way out. Be smart, stay home, dont see people if possible, dont socialize, keep your distance, wash your hands. If all those people have survived wars, diseases and prison camps, we CAN survive this. We HAVE to survive this, no matter how frightening, or how scared we are. We are in this together, and we will come through it. Hang tough. We can do it. I send you all my love and prayers. (And if you need a laugh, I could be doing exercise on Skype for $300 a session, a luxury brand will assign me a ‘guide’ for online shopping, and as of today I could get a 10% discount for stockings and pantyhose, which I’m not wearing.) Just be good, stay home, and hang on tight. all my love #daniellesteel

Lockdown. We can’t leave the apartment. Wearing my Miss Piggy sweatshirt. I get to wear all the silly things from the back of my closet, or whatever cheers me up. It’s stressful being locked down, but for a good cause!!! So we can break the back of this virus, and get rid of it worldwide. You can only leave your home for food, pharmacy, to see a doctor, or for work in some cases, if you can’t work remotely. All outings are discouraged if at all possible, so I’m staying home. I miss going out, seeing friends, going for a walk, shopping, lunch or dinner with friends. The simple pleasures will seem like giant treats when this is over!!! It makes you grateful for all the freedoms we take for granted. I’m going to try and get some work done, but it’s hard to concentrate, while worrying about my children, and the world. Try to find some projects to do at home while you’re confined. And STAY CONFINED under lockdown, DONT GO OUT!!! so we can end this faster. (and by the way, the wee wee pads in the last post are my Princess Minnie’s pathway through the house. She refuses to walk on hard, cold surfaces like floor or tile, ONLY on carpet—-so I have a path of weepads through my house so she can get where she wants to go if I’m not carrying her. Minnie, spoiled??? Don’t be silly!!! She has me perfectly trained!!) #daniellesteel

Another ‘inspirational sweatshirt’. This one says “I’m going to make it” or “I’m going to get there”—-and we will!!! It’s hard to be confined, and so many people are lonely, alone, and afraid. These are frightening times, but we will come out the other end. We HAVE to stay confined, isolated, and safe to beat the virus. There’s no other way. So stay in and stay safe, try not to be terrified by everything we hear on the news, and find things to do at home, new movies you havent seen before, old movies you love and want to see again, your favorite series, favorite past times, face time with friends, house repairs, reorganize your closets. We will get there!!! sending you lots of love and prayers for safety, health, and strength. #daniellesteel
