Google Docs is one of the most productive applications from Google which is taken as a rivalry of the Microsoft Word. However, one of the most frustrating features of Google Docs is its hidden word count tool that is needed to be triggered manually. But now, the tech giant is finally fixing this issue by giving an ability to display the live word count at the bottom-left corner of the display just like Microsoft Word.

This update has started rolling out to the Google Docs users worldwide and will be available to the majority of the users in a few days. Users can check the availability of this feature by heading over to the Tools > Word Count. (There’s a keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + Shift + C). Users who have got this feature will see a checkbox as “Display word count while typing”. Simply hit that checkbox to enable this feature.

Once you enable this feature, you will see the real-time word count at the bottom-left corner of the display. When you click on the lower-left corner where the numbers are, you can also view a panel with more information. It includes the document’s character count (both with and without spaces), as well as the page count if you need to know if you have enough paper to print it out.

In case, if you don’t want to see the word count, you can also disable it by following the same procedure. You just have to unmark the checkbox to disable the live word count.
