Google on Wednesday has finally unveiled its latest flagship Made by Google devices, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. Both the smartphones come with several upgrades over their predecessors. The Google Pixel 2 Pixel 2 XL comes with a starting price of $649 (Rs. 42,235 approx) and $849 (Rs. 55,250 approx) respectively. Both the smartphones will be made available in India, Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK and the US, pre-orders for the US has already begun.
Google Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL Price in India
For the Indian market, the Pixel 2 comes with the price tag of Rs. 61,000 for 64GB variant and Rs, 70,000 for the 128 GB variant. Similarly the Pixel 2 XL for the 64GB and 128GB variants are Rs. 73,000 and Rs. 82,000, respectively. The smartphones will be made available from over 1,000 offline stores across the country also will be exclusively available online via Flipkart. Pre-orders for both the smartphone starts from October 26; the Pixel 2 will then go on sale on November 1 and Pixel 2 XL on November 15.
Google Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL Features
The main difference of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is their display size and battery capacity, The Google Pixel 2 comes in three colour options including Kind of Blue, Just Black, and Clearly White colour options, while the Pixel 2 XL will be available in Just Black and Black & White colour options. Both the smartphone comes with squeeze sense technology ‘ActiveEdge’ like HTC U11; the phone can detect pressure on its sides so you can squeeze the edges to activate Google Assistant.
The second generation Pixel smartphones also come with ‘Google Lens’ You can take pictures of posters and Google Lens will be able to make sense of the useful things and information mentioned in there with an accurate rate of over 95 percent. The smartphones come loaded with IP67 certifications for Water and dust resistance and front-firing stereo speakers for better multimedia experience. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL specifications
Both the Pixel devices run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. The Pixel 2 features a 5” Cinematic 127-mm full-HD (1080×1920) display, while the Pixel 2 XL features a 6” QHD+ (2880×1440) P-OLED at 538ppi with 18:9 ratio. Both the devices come loaded with a new Always-on Display and are protected with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The duo is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. They offer 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of internal storage which is not further expandable.
For photography, both the smartphones features a 12.2MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size, and optical and electronic image stabilisation, dual pixel phase detection + autofocus with laser and 4K video recording. On the front there is an 8MP camera with f/2.4 aperture, fixed focus and 1.4-micron pixel sensor. Google claims that Pixel 2 series comes with the highest rated camera with 98 DxOMark scores, which is the highest for a smartphone. Further, the camera is also optimised for augmented reality.
Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are fueled by 2700mAh and 3520mAh battery respectively. Google claims that phones can give an output of up to 7 hours with 15 minutes of charge. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 2.4G + 5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, NFC, eSIM, USB Type-C port and GPS. Following the Apple’s initiative 3.5mm audio jack has been removed in favour USB type-C both charging and music.
