It looks like Google is planning to add the Dual-SIM support in its upcoming Pixel 4 phones. According to an Android Open Source project web page by XDA Developers, they indicate that the upcoming Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4XL will have improved Dual-SIM functionality.
From 2017, Pixel Phones including Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 phones have Dual-SIM support but with only single standby. Out of which one is eSIM while another one is a physical SIM. In case, if you didn’t have any idea about eSIM, actually, an eSIM or embedded SIM is a chip which is placed inside the phone and act as a SIM card. However, this functionality works in limited placed in the world.
So, even though Pixel phones have the functionality of Dual-SIM support, they only work on a single channel. This means only one SIM remains active at a time. If you want to use another one, you have to use switch it before using.
But according to this Android Open Source Project, a Google employee says that they are working over the Dual-SIM Dual-Active functionality and most probably this feature will be there on the upcoming Android Q. He said they are already testing this feature in the Google Pixel 3 to implement this feature on Pixel 4.
This feature has been recently added in the 2018 model of iPhone XS which also follows the same concept of Dual-SIM Single Standby before 2018. However, after this AOSP, you may expect the Dual-SIM Dual-Active functionality in the upcoming Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phones. Also, this feature might roll on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 models also, but there is no any specific announcement to roll this feature on this phone has been made by the Google employee. However, there is a good probability that this functionality will be rolled out on Google Pixel 4 phones.
