HBO Releases First Footage Of The Last Of Us TV Series

HBO Max has released a first brief look at the hotly-anticipated The Last Of Us TV series, giving fans their first look at Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively. The teaser trailer also features Nick Offerman as Bill, a minor character who had an arrangement with Joel in the first game.

Although not much footage was shared, the 20-second snippet offers plays some memorable moments from the game, including when Joel told Ellie “You have no idea what loss is“. The trailer begins with Joel and Ellie walking on the bridge in snowy weather, then it shows Joel teaching his companion how to shoot a revolver. The next scene is Joel carrying Ellie in his arms as they flee from something hostile, likely the infected.

The teaser trailer concludes with Bill taking his mask off and staring at someone in front of him. This ending scene does not show who or what Bill is looking at. The filming locations look pretty similar to the ones in the game.

Casting

The Last Of Us television series will feature some beloved actors such as Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, Anna Torv as Tess, Murray Bartlett as Frank, and Nico Parker as Sarah Miller. However, one of the most exciting parts of The Last of Us is that it is being written by Craig Mazin, who is best known for his excellent work on HBO’s Chernobyl. Also, Neil Druckman, of The Last of Us fame, is taking the role of executive producer to keep the series faithful to its source material.

HBO has already revealed that The Last Of Us series will be ten episodes for its first season and will premiere sometime in 2023. For the few people unfamiliar with the source material, The Last Of Us follows the emotional story of Joel and Ellie, who are attempting to survive in a post-pandemic United States. The game takes place twenty years after an infectious disease begins turning humans into monstrosities.
