DualShockers recently had the honor to speak with the development team of Honkai: Star Rail, and we obviously asked the obvious question: are we getting some console releases for Star Rail, most notably on PS4 and PS5, like with Genshin Impact?
Were you lucky enough to get into the Honkai: Star Rail Closed Beta Test? The latest game by Genshin and Honkai Impact developer, HoYoverse, received its second Beta on May 25. Players from all around the world can now experience this new turn-based RPG and sci-fi-themed adventure. Only on iOS, Android, and PC though.
HoYoverse Teases Console Port Announcement For Honkai: Star Rail
During our Q&A session with the Honkai: Star Rail developers, while the devs emphasized that the current Closed Beta Test only supports PC, iOS, and Android devices, they also told us to “stay tuned for prompt updates” regarding console releases.
What If Star Rail Also Got Released On Xbox?
Now, the biggest question will be whether an Xbox version of Honkai: Star Rail will be happening or not. Soon after the release of Genshin Impact on September 28, 2020, on PC, Mobile, and PS4, HoYoverse (still named miHoYo back then) had stated the game would come to PS5 but that there were no plans for Xbox. Maybe Honkai: Star Rail will follow a different strategy?
HoYoverse’s Console Port Announcement Strategy
It’s also interesting to note that while the various console versions of Genshin Impact were only officially announced months after one another, HoYoverse revealed several months ago that Genshin Impact was always planned to be released on consoles. Yes, even the Nintendo Switch version which is currently MIA. So, HoYoverse fans on consoles, please don’t panic and don’t bring out the copium just yet! Just wait patiently for future announcements.
Besides Honkai Star Rail, HoYoverse is also working on future updates of its ongoing games, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Tears of Themis, and more. Moreover, another brand new project, Zenless Zone Zero, was also revealed on May 13, 2022.
