On Friday, Huawei India showcased its latest high-end smartphone in India, the Honor 8 Pro. The company launched the same smartphone dubbed as the Honor V9 in China in February. The smartphone will be available in Navy Blue and Midnight Black colour choices in India. It will be made available from the first half of July. The Honor 8 Pro price in India has not yet been revealed.
The big highlights of Honor 8 Pro are its dual rear camera setup, similar to Honor 8 and a massive 4000mAh battery. Expanding the portfolio of its Honor brand of smartphones in India, the company has revealed that the phone will be in the affordable price segment.
Let’s get into the technical specifications; The Honor 8 Pro runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with EMUI 5.1 skin on top. It sports a 5.7” QHD (1440×2560 pixels) LTPS LCD display with a pixel density of 515 PPI with the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 960 octa-core processor (4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz + 4 Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.4GHz) coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The smartphone offers 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via hybrid microSD card slot.
Now quickly jump into the camera, the Honor 8 pro sports two 12MP sensors with f/2.2 aperture. One sensor takes the images in RGB while the other takes them in monochrome. It comes with features like Phase Detection, Laser Autofocus, dual LED flash and 4K video recording support. Additionally, the Honor 8 Pro can also record slow-motion videos, with support for 1080p resolution videos at 60FPS. One sensor takes the images in RGB while the other takes them in monochrome. On the front, there is an 8 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies with 1080p recording support.
The Honor 8 Pro is a dual-SIM smartphone with support for 4G VoLTE bands in India. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2, and NFC. The smartphone is powered by a massive 4000mAh battery and comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back.
While the pricing of the smartphone has not been announced by the company just yet, Allen Wang, Director, Product Centre, Huawei India Consumer Business Group, told IANS: “Honor 8 Pro is one of the best Honor phone so far and will be priced in the affordable price segment.”
Additionally, the Honor 8 Pro’s retail box could be turned into a Google Cardboard viewer for VR experience as well. The smartphone comes with the Galaxy on Fire 3 and Jaunt VR apps pre-installed. Further, the company says that it has partnered with Gameloft and GoPro for in-built apps (including the GoPro Quik app) and is currently in talks with major e-tailers for exclusive online release.
