How to look younger: Three habits to quit ‘right now’ to maintain youthful looks – claims

Looking after your skin properly can shave years off without a hefty price tag. Dr Liv Kraemer, a certified dermatologist, revealed how women can “enhance” their skin quality by removing three things from their life.

Dr Liv told women to “quit smoking right now” if they want to maintain a youthful complexion.

She explained: “You might say, ‘I just smoke once in a while,’ but no no no, it doesn’t matter, every smoke is bad. Stop smoking now.”

The expert then suggested that those who smoke need not bother applying skincare products.

Dr Liv continued: “The smoke is actually taking all the antioxidants out of your skin.”

Antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals, molecules in the environment that damage your skin by clinging to collagen and weakening elasticity.

According to Dermatologist Mona Gohara, free radicals come from things like air pollutants, chemicals, and cigarette smoke – “and they basically suck the life out of your face”.

If smoking removes antioxidants from the face, there is nothing left to protect the skin against environmental damage and the sun, according to Dr Liv.

“And it doesn’t matter how many antioxidants you applied before, your skin will be naked.

DON’T MISS

She explained that stress can come from a family member, education or work, among other things.

Dr Liv advised women to try meditation – “it really works” – as well as reduce their alcohol and caffeine consumption.

According to Very Well Mind, high levels of alcohol consumption can lead to an increase in cortisol, widely known as the stress hormone. The same can be said for caffeine.

Therefore, swapping your morning coffee for a fresh juice, smoothie or glass of lemon water may be a super simple way to knock years off your age.

As for alcohol, this will dehydrate the skin over time, and dry skin is more prone to wrinkling.
