A new FCC (Federal Communications Commission) Certification details reveals that the HTC is getting ready to roll out the Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility to its latest flagship smartphone via a smaller software update.
HTC U11 shoud have been one of the first smartphones to feature Bluetooth 5.0. Unfortunately, for some reason, the Taiwanese giant was unable to do so, and Samsung became the first smart to feature Bluetooth 5.0 in Galaxy S8 and S8+.
HTC U11 was launched back in May with the Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. However, it looks like HTC has changed its mind and has decided to update the U11 to Bluetooth 5.0 very soon. According to the report, HTC plans to “enable Bluetooth 5.0 by software without any hardware change.”
For those who unaware of Bluetooth 5.0, It is the new version of Bluetooth which comes with lots of advantages over Bluetooth 4.2 chipsets. It would have comparatively longer connectivity range, less power consumption, faster data transfer and will be more accurate.
Sadly, it’s unclear when exactly the new update will be released, but if you own the HTC U11, you can be sure your phone will make use of Bluetooth 5.0 if nothing wrong happens.
