Huawei surpasses Apple as the Second Largest Smartphone Seller

Riding on the great demand generated by Honor phones by Huawei and strong demand of P20 and P20 Pro Huawei has moved to second place replacing Apple with 54.2 million shipped in the Q2 2108 according to the IDC.

According to an estimate made by Canalys around two third of the jump Huawei managed is driven by Honor phones. In the report Samsung’s market share is of 20.9 percent, Huawei recorded a new market high in terms of market share at 15.8 while Apple came third in the listing of market share.

It is speculated that Apple will perform better after it new launches due in September and has planned to compete in the mid-priced smartphone market in next one year with 6.1-inch Phone that might offer Face ID, an edge-to-edge display and fast processor as the company’s more expensive OLED models come with. And, more importantly, the device would be priced competently.

IDC Market ShareDespite been Huawei number were encouraging the overall trends remains on the decreasing side as IDC says there were 342 million smartphones shipped during the second quarter of 2018, a 1.8 percent decline from the 348.2 million smartphones shipped during the second quarter of 2017.

Down in the list, Xiaomi and Opp find places with 31.9 million units and 29.4 million units shipped in Q2 respectively.
