Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to pin the posts on their profile. According to a Twitter post by researcher Salman Memon, few Instagram users are seeing a new ‘Pin to your profile’ option when they press on the ‘three-dot’ icon above the post. As per the screenshot shared by the researcher, the new option will help users to make a few of their posts appear at the top of their profile.
The feature appears quite similar to the pin post feature offered by Twitter and Facebook. Instagram has not officially revealed anything about the feature till now. It is also not known how many posts users will be allowed to pin.
Details about a similar feature that will allow users to rearrange the posts on their profile were shared by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi in January. As per Paluzzi’s old post, the Facebook owned platform is testng a new ‘Edit Grid’ option that can be found under the profile settings. The option will allow users to rejig the way posts are seen on the profile, regardless of time they were posted.
According to the screenshot shared by Paluzzi, the users will be able to drag and drop the posts on their profile in an order they like. Last year, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said that the company is trying to give more control to the users in 2022. It looks like the feature is one of the ways the platform is providing control to users. Currently users can only delete or archive a post in their profile.
