Yoga lessons from Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty believes that while it may be natural for the body to feel sluggish, we should never give in to its demands completely. It is important to give your body enough rest, but we must not make it inactive. She revealed that she practices Viparita Naukasana, positions that do not look like a heavy routine but are power-packed. These positions strengthen the lower back, pelvic region, shoulders, arms, and hips.

Shilpa Shetty once took to her Instagram to share, “Yoga adds years to your life and life to your years.” She mentioned that she believes this saying to be very accurate. She starts the day with yoga as it sets the tone for the rest of the day. She shares that she does the Eka pada Utkatasana (one-legged chair pose) and goes into Anjaneyasana (low lunge). These positions increase core strength and body balance while also strengthening quadriceps and glutes.

Shilpa Shetty also took to her social media to share that a busy day at work does not deter her from sparing time for fitness. In the video, she performs Free Squats, a few stretches, and Natrajasana. She revealed that Natrajasana strengthens the shoulder, back, arms and legs. It is also great for the digestive system and stretches the whole body.

The actress also revealed that she practices a different combination of asanas that focus on mind, body, and soul. She added that any routine can become boring when monotony sets in which is why experimenting with something new help. In the video, she performs Gatyatmak Anjaneyasana and Baddha Trikonasana which strengthens the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings.

She also says that yoga prepares her mind, body and soul for a fantastic day ahead. She performs the Vrikshasana followed by the Virabhadrasana III pose and also the Natrajasana pose. These poses strengthened her ankle joints, hips and legs while also improving balance, posture & flexibility, concentration & focus, and mind-body coordination.

Shilpa Shetty also believes that the simplest of things can be the most beneficial. She cites the example of the Suryanamaskara which may seem rather easy but has an effect on the entire body. Her variation, the Dynamic Suryanamaskara increases shoulders and core strength, improves blood circulation and strengthens the erector spine muscles.
