Joltik Shiny Status, Bonuses & More

The month of August has a plethora of exciting events lined up for Pokemon Go fans alongside some interesting Pokemon being featured in the Spotlight Hour.

For the third Spotlight Hour of August 2022, we have Joltik as the featured Pokemon. Joltik is a Bug-Electric Pokemon introduced back in Generation V, hailing from the Unova region. The event will start at 6 pm local time, and players have only an hour–until 7 pm local time–to catch as many Joltik as possible. The spawn rate of the Pokemon will be increased drastically, so you will find them more often in the wild. Joltik can be evolved into Galvantula using 50 Joltik Candies, and the more Joltik you catch the more candies you will accumulate.

To make things even more exciting, Niantic has a special bonus for fans. During the course of the event, players will receive twice the amount of candy they usually get while catching Pokemon. Best of all, this bonus is not just restricted to Joltik, so you can catch any Pokemon you want, and you will still get two times the candy you ideally get.

Last but not the least, when it comes to the Shiny status of Joltik, there is some bad news for fans as a shiny Joltik is not present in Pokemon Go. It is not known when Niantic will add the shiny variant of Joltik to the game, but considering that new shiny variants are only added during special events, don’t expect it to come anytime soon.

Despite the absence of a shiny Pokemon this week, fans would still be quite eager to take part in the Spotlight Hour as it features a rare Pokemon. Niantic had faced some backlash lately for featuring common Pokemon in the Spotlight Hour, but it seems like they have taken the community feedback seriously and made some drastic changes.
