Kate Middleton will be perfect Queen says body language expert

To mark Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s milestone birthday on January 9, Kensington Palace released a new series of portraits of the Duchess. The photos were taken by Paolo Roversi and featured Kate in a range of uncharacteristically glamorous dresses and regal poses.

Comparisons have been drawn between the photographs of Kate and previous royal portraits of famous British queens, like Queen Victoria and Queen Alexandra.

And the series also echoes the photos taken of the Queen, Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother by renowned photographer, Cecil Beaton.

Kate’s 40th birthday portraits are in sharp contrast to previous photos released to mark her birthday, which have often featured Kate looking rather demure and without royal grandeur.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, body language expert Judi James explained: “Previous birthdays as a royal wife tended to involve pregnancy, with Kate falling prey to morning sickness.

“Photos taken around her birthday tended to show her either in her role as a mother or in mirrored poses with William rather than as a stand-alone royal.”

For her 39th birthday in 2021, Kate’s birthday photo featured her in a face mask while out on a royal engagement.

And in 2020, Kate’s 38th birthday was marked with a picture of the Duchess sitting on a country fence in a jumper.

But according to Ms James, the 40th birthday portraits showcases Kate’s growing sense of “firmness and determination” as a high-profile member of the Royal Family.

She said: “These latest shots are the first time that Kate has thrown any signals or traits of introversion to the wind and allowed us to enjoy officially those signals of the growing confidence and sense of calmly relaxed firmness and determination that we have been watching develop naturally over the past two or three years.”

Over recent years, it appears Kate and Prince William have upped their public profiles in preparation for their future royal roles.

Both royals take on several royal engagements every year, even more so in recent months now the Queen has significantly reduced her schedule at the age of 95.

The Cambridge’s have been front and centre at many national events in recent months including at the COP26 climate summit in November.

Kate also hosted her own televised Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December, showcasing her musical skills by playing the piano.

Kate’s increasing appearances in the public eye can all be seen as preparation for her future roles as Princess of Wales and eventually, Queen.

And Kate’s birthday portraits show she firmly understands her “future destiny”, according to the expert.

Ms James said: “Kate’s 40th birthday portraits show a final unfurling of her wings in terms of her role as future Queen.

“Previous birthday portraits and photos have shown Kate in different life roles as mother, wife and working member of the royal Firm, but at last we can see her fully acknowledging and embracing her future destiny in what are her only truly stand-alone birthday portraits to date.

“This launch of ‘brand Kate’ has been a long time coming, suggesting an ongoing sense of modesty and a desire to avoid stealing the spotlight.

“Incredibly this is almost the first time Kate has posed for her birthday with her eyes looking direct to camera.

“In some of her previous photos, she has adopted avoidance rituals, either looking away from the lens or being shot out and about on a royal visit.”
