Netflix announced back in September 2022 that the martial arts anime, Kengan Ashura, will come back for a second season on the streaming platform in 2023. At the time, the company didn’t announce the release date, but now, we know when to expect to see Kazuo Yamashita and Ohma Tokita on our screens again.
The Netflix Japan Anime Twitter account confirmed on March 23 that Kengan Ashura will return for a second season this September 2023. A new key visual has also been released with the announcement, featuring Ohma. Netflix hyped the arrival of the anime by writing, “Kengan Ashura Season 2 is headed to Netflix this September, and we’ve got the main art right here! Are YOU ready to resume this daring fist fight to the death?!”

Kengan Ashura takes place during the Edo period of Japan. It is about “gladiators” who fight against each other in arenas whose audiences consist of the powerful and wealthy elite of the society. The show’s protagonist, Ohma, bursts onto the scene and makes a name for himself quickly.
We last saw Ohma fighting and beating Raina and advancing to the quarter-finals. The story will continue from this point on in Kengan Ashura Season 2.
