“Placed in contrast to his sister Anne’s quiet, elegant and stoic response to events and the way that her mother the Queen managed to reign for 70-odd years without any public displays of emotion other than kindness and charm (She was said to have a disapproving look for certain occasions but it was nothing less subtle than an eye-flash signal).
“Charles’ sudden lightning strikes of impatience and frustration suggest a man either unable to mask or control his emotions at present or a man who has always been exacting and authoritative but who we are only now seeing under the spotlight of the role of the monarch for the first time.
“In particular I don’t remember the Queen ever looking tetchy with her staff in public and we have heard from incidents with Kate and William that they will be very protective of and non-demanding towards their teams,” she noted.
“Charles excels at being charming and this side to his body language behaviour has made him very popular recently.
