LG has launched its latest V-series smartphone – the LG V40 ThinQ, at an event in New York City event on Wednesday, as a successor to last year’s LG V30. This is the first smartphone from the company to sports five cameras. Some of the highlights of the smartphone include a Snapdragon 845 processor, IP68 water and dust resistance and Military-grade build (MIL-STD-810 certification). The smartphone is heavily focussed on immense audio experience with an improved Boombox speaker, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad-DAC audio, and DTS:X 3D surround sound.

The LG V40 ThinQ comes with the price tag of $900 with US Cellular, $920 with T-Mobile, $960 with Sprint and finally $980 with Verizon. The smartphone will be available to purchase in the US starting October 18. It will be made available in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Platinum Gray, and Carmine Red colour options.

The LG V40 ThinQ runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and sports a 6.4” QHD+ (1440×3120 pixels) 19.5:9 OLED FullVision display with a pixel density of 537 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. It offers 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/128GB of UFS2.1 internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
For photography, the LG V40 ThinQ sports a triple camera setup on the back with a combination of a 12MP sensor with f/1.5 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size and 78-degree viewing angle, second 16MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, and 107-degree viewing angle, and the third 12MP telephoto lens sensor with f/2.4 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, and 45-degree viewing angle. It has a new Triple Preview feature which that lets users take three simultaneous shots from the three rear cameras to enable you to pick the best among them. Other features include Dual Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), HDR, and third-gen AI Cam mode that recognises up to 19 subjects and recommends 4 optimised filter options. On the front, it has a dual camera setup with a combination of an 8MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size and 5MP secondary wide-angle secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size.
the LG V40 ThinQ is fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and fast wireless charging support. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back and a dedicated Google Assistant button. The phone measures 158.7×75.8×7.79mm and weighs 169 grams.
