Manchester United and Middlesbrough fans booed a bizarre announcement about half-time refreshments during their FA Cup clash at Old Trafford. The Red Devils were leading their Championship opponents 1-0 towards the end of the first-half when the stadium’s public address system told fans they would not be able to access food at the break.
Jadon Sancho’s deflected strike had put United ahead midway through the first half.
It came after Cristiano Ronaldo’s rare penalty miss. The legendary forward slammed his effort wide of Joe Lumley’s goal after Paul Pogba had been fouled in the box.
Ralf Rangnick’s side dominated the first half and could have led by more. Sancho struck the bar in an impressive individual performance.
But fans enjoying the display were soon angered when it was announced that a technical error meant that food and drink would not be sold at half-time.
