Man Utd decide stance on signing Joao Felix or Dusan Vlahovic to replace Cristiano Ronaldo | Football | Sport

Manchester United have no interest in signing Joao Felix or Dusan Vlahovic despite the need to source a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports. United may need to replace Ronaldo as soon as January with the Portuguese centre-forward having been tipped to leave Old Trafford since last summer.

The Red Devils are looking to reshape their front line under Erik ten Hag with Ronaldo, 37, set to leave in the winter window or at the end of the season when his contract runs out. Marcus Rashford has had joy as a striker this term but the Dutch manager will be keen to sign a new forward to replace Ronaldo.

And that has seen links surface to Atletico Madrid attacker Felix, an international team-mate of Ronaldo’s for Portugal, and Juventus’ prolific Serbian international Vlahovic. Felix, 22, has contributed three goals and three assists in 17 outings this term while Vlahovic – also 22 – is on eight goals in 15 games.

Yet Sky Sport Germany have quashed the speculation around both players. They claim United have no interest in signing either player despite their quality. Felix joined Atletico from Benfica in 2019 for £106million and so would command a gigantic fee while Vlahovic only joined Juve from Fiorentina for £62m rising to £70m with add-ons in January earlier this year.

The forward has seen more minutes this term following Robert Lewandowski’s summer departure. He has amassed 703 minutes compared to 499 last term, despite making 26 appearances.

The African, who has scored at least nine goals in all of his seasons at Bayern, previously had a 51-game spell with Paris Saint-Germain. He played for Stoke City in the 2017-18 season and scored five goals in 30 Premier League outings.

Ten Hag hinted he might try to sign a forward in January after last week’s Europa League win at Real Sociedad. He said: “We need options. We have problems there [with injuries]. Antony is not available, Anthony Martial is not available, Jadon Sancho is not available. So it’s thin.”
