Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has reportedly made his intentions on the next club in his career known to BVB chiefs – with Barcelona seemingly the Norwegian’s favoured choice, despite three English clubs being interested in him.
Haaland has scored 80 goals in just 79 appearances for the Yellows after signing in January 2020.
Establishing himself as one of the world’s best strikers, Haaland is wanted by most teams across the world that require a new forward.
At the age of just 21, Haaland has years to develop at Dortmund, although he feels his career will take a turn for the better if he is to move this summer.
And according to the Daily Star, sources near the club suggest he is set on a move to Barcelona.
The report states that Haaland is delaying a decision on his future in order to allow Barcelona time to raise the money needed to sign him.
A fee of around £300million is apparently needed to sign him, though this includes agent fees and salary over the course of his contract.
And sources close to Haaland are convinced his preferred destination is the Nou Camp, despite a refusal to confirm his thoughts.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in activating the £68million buy-out clause that becomes activated at the end of the season.
However, the Blaugrana have debts of £670m – meaning a deal may be scuppered if their finances can not be improved.
La Liga expert Terry Gibson believes the £1b loan that Goldman Sachs sanctioned means the Catalan club can afford Haaland.
“They’ll be in there, 100 percent! Absolutely,” he said.
“I was amazed they were able to get the money to buy Ferran Torres from Man City this month.
“They will find the money. They always find ways of raising the revenue. They’ve just done a massive new shirt sponsorship deal, which will be the world’s highest. They’ve still got the pull.
“And the deal with Goldman Sachs, who are also paying for the new stadium, means repayments on debts are now long-term.
“Barcelona will be back – much sooner than anyone imagined.”
