The sorcerer played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been a force to reckon with, and he will soon appear in Marvel’s biggest movie since Avengers: Endgame in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The actor was given the MCU’s top billing by its head in Kevin Feige, who gave him the honor during the actor’s addition into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Feige lauded his career which has seen him play several iconic characters such as Sherlock Holmes. However, after acting in three of the six highest grossing films ever, it’s no secret that moviegoers know mostly know him as Doctor Strange.
Usually, an anchor is the backbone of any general world, and for the first four phases of the MCU, everyone would agree in saying that this role was effortlessly played by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.
However, following the death of Iron Man, and the curtains being raised for the Big Six, the mantle of the anchor has now been given to Benedict Cumberbatch, who had his fair share of competition in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
This would mean that Doctor Strange would play a central role in the MCU’s different plotlines, starting with the Multiverse of Madness, a project which he’s leading.
However, in the future, he could be the one leading the new Avengers in a new team-up movie, and it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
