Mason Greenwood has reportedly informed his family of his intention to marry his pregnant partner. The Manchester United striker is apparently expecting his first child with his university student girlfriend this summer.

Greenwood was spotted out with his partner at the £600 per-night Langham Hotel in central London this week. The 21-year-old remains suspended by his club amid an internal club investigation.

In February, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour made against Greenwood. But United have launched their own investigation to determine whether the academy graduate can remain employed by the club.

According to the Sun newspaper, Greenwood has plans to marry his pregnant partner. Sources close to the footballer have claimed that he has informed his family of his future plans.

Greenwood is expecting his first child in the summer with the woman. However, it remains unclear whether he will be allowed to return to United.

Greenwood appeared before magistrates and was informed he would face trial later this year. However, the CPS dropped charges after several witnesses failed to cooperate.

It said that “the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

The CPS added: “In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case. We have explained our decision to all parties. We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.”

United suspended Greenwood on full pay and he had a sponsorship deal with Nike dropped. An internal club investigation is ongoing. Greenwood has reportedly spoken with head coach Erik ten Hag.

A club statement read: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
