Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married back in May 2018 after dating for a year and a half. In November 2017, Prince Harry proposed to Meghan with a three-cluster stone ring, containing one ethically sourced stone from Botswana and two stones either side from Princess Diana’s jewellery collection. Experts at Simply Be have analysed Google search data to find out which ring out of all celebrity engagement rings is the most popular.

According to them, the top place is royalty with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

They have received 180,000 searches so far in 2022 for their engagement ring.

Kate Middleton’s engagement ring on the other hand came third overall, but second in royalty, with 132,000 searches in 2022.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement ring is well etched in people’s minds as it was the ring formerly belonging to Princess Diana.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank came in 10th place overall, but third in royalty with 18,000 searches in 2022.

Her ring is a unique pink diamond ring, containing a rare Padparadscha diamond.

Maxwell Stone, the Creative Director at Steven Stone Jewellers, spoke exclusively with Express.co.uk to uncover why Meghan’s engagement ring is the most popular royal ring.

He said: “Meghan Markle is known for wearing remarkable pieces of jewellery, and her engagement ring from Prince Harry is no doubt one of the most beautiful.

But why did she make the changes, and what alterations did the Duchess make?

Max added: “It’s not uncommon for engagement rings to be altered or redesigned, however, in this instance it is believed to be Prince Harry who took charge of the alteration.

“He made the decision to resize and reset the ring so that the original simple band was replaced with a thin, yellow gold band set with micro-pavè diamonds.

“As he chose to upgrade the band at the same time he ordered a bespoke eternity ring for her, it’s likely he wanted to make the two complement each other.”
