On Monday, Chinese manufacturer Meizu has launched a new ‘A’ series smartphone named The Meizu A5. It is a budget-centric smartphone. The Meizu A5 has been launched in China and is currently listed on the company’s official website. The smartphone is priced at CNY 699 ($103/Rs. 6,700 approx). There is no clue whether Meizu would be launching its new budget smartphone in global markets.
The Meizu A5 has been made available in Black, Gold, and Silver colour variants, it sports a metal uni-body. The smartphone has a physical home button. A single camera setup is placed at the top centre with the Meizu branding below it on the back. The volume rockers and the power button both are situated on the right edge of the smartphone while the SIM tray is placed on the left side.
Coming on specification, the Meizu A5 runs Flyme OS, Android version is unspecified by the company, It sports a 5” HD (720×1280 pixels) display with 294 pixel density with a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the phone is is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor coupled Mali-T720 GPU. It offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
In terms of photography, the Meizu A5 sports an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash. On the front end there is a 5MP front facing camera with f/2.2 aperture with face exposure enhancements and smart beauty filters.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and GPS. Sensors on board the Meizu A5 include gravity, proximity, compass, ambient light, and infrared sensors. The Meizu A5 measures 144×70.5×8.3mm in dimensions and weighs 140 grams. The smartphone packs a 3060mAh battery which could easily run for the whole day.
