Microsoft: Microsoft increases chat limits on AI-powered Bing for the third time

0
Microsoft launched the ‘new’ Bing with AI-powered ChatGPT integration last month. Soon after opening the preview to some users on the waiting list, it was reported that the chatbot insulted and threatened users. Acknowledging the development, the company imposed restrictions on chat sessions and total number of chats in one go. Microsoft has now announced it is increasing the limit. It is to be noted that this is the third instance where the company has brought this change.
“Bing Chat limits moving to 15 /150,” Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft, said in a tweet. This means that the Bing Chat is moving to 15 chats per session and 150 total per day.
Previous restrictions
In its first instance, Microsoft increased the chat sessions and total number of chats to 6 and 60, respectively. Last week, it further raised the chat session and total number of chats per day to 10 and 120, respectively.
“Engineering [is] making steady progress with quality of experience giving us confidence to expand the testing. Let us know how it’s working for you,” Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft, said in a previous tweet.
Optimisation of Bing AI modes
Recently, Microsoft announced that it added three new modes: Creative, Precise and Balanced. These chat modes are aimed at giving more control to users. The Creative mode makes the responses more “original and imaginative”, the Precise mode improves that accuracy and relevancy by introducing more factual answers, the Balanced mode strikes a balance between accuracy and creativity.

Mehdi said that Microsoft is now testing an optimisation on “Balanced” mode to “significantly improve performance resulting in shorter, quicker responses.” “Precise and Creative modes remain unchanged providing a diversity of experiences,” he added.
Updates in Edge browser
Microsoft also announced that it is bringing Create and Compose on Edge browser. “Available today, Chat, Create and Compose with the new Bing in the Edge sidebar. Now in the latest version of Edge and rolling out to Bing preview users. Enjoy!” Mehdi said.

For example, if users want to update their “About” info on LinkedIn while using the platform on Microsoft Edge, they can now use the Bing chatbot to quickly compose a short summary – just like it is done on Bing search engine – by clicking the chatbot icon on the top right corner of the webpage.
