Microsoft Working on Improving Payment Methods for Xbox Users in India Including GooglePay, PayTM, Debit Cards and More

Despite its best efforts, Xbox continues to lag behind in India, when it comes to console wars against its archrival in PlayStation.

Even after offering one of gaming’s best deals in the Xbox Game Pass, the Microsoft-owned brand has yet to create strong buzz among console users in India, as fans gravitate towards the large first-party catalog of the Sony developed console.

However, with Microsoft soon unveiling a plethora of first-party titles later this year, the Indian console market is poised for a change. However, the brand faces major problems among potential users, due to a lack in variety when it comes to payment options.

Payment Instruments survey on Xbox Insiders App

At the moment, Xbox doesn’t offer payment options such as UPI or Wallets such as Google Pay for various services such as subscribing to Game Pass. However, that soon might change, as seen by the company’s recent survey.

As part of the Xbox Insiders Hub app, various members are asked to take part in surveys in order to improve the experiences for the Xbox community. The most recent survey for players to fill revolved around payment instruments, as the brand asked questions on the current experiences of players while paying for services.

Alongside asking details about how one might pay for these services currently, users were also asked to choose payment options that they would like to see on Xbox. The list of options featured:

  • Wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • PayTM
  • UPI
  • PayPal

With these options at hand, users won’t have a hard time paying for their favorite services from Xbox. During a recent chat with Arjun Varma, Global Expansion Incubator (GXI) Manager at Xbox Gaming at IGDC 2022, Varma had revealed that the team at Xbox were looking into the lack of payment options in India, and judging by the survey, it seems like Microsoft might soon push out the feature for interested Xbox users.
