Motorola has today launched its latest Z-series smartphone – the Moto Z3 at an event in Chicago. The main highlights of the smartphone include splash-resistant build, pure Android experience, and Moto Mods support. The company has additionally partnered with Qualcomm to launch a 5G Moto Mod that will enable the next-generation network access on the Moto Z3. The 5G Moto Mod uses a Snapdragon X50 modem and “millimeter wave components” to offer 5G access on Verizon network. Motorola claims that the device will be capable of reaching a data speed of 5 gigabits per second (Gbps).
Moto Z3 price and Availability
The Moto Z3 comes with the price tag of $480 (Rs. 33,000 approx.) and will be available to purchase exclusively through Verizon starting from August 16. There is also a carrier-locked version which will be available at a monthly charge of $20 for 24 months. It will be made available only in Ceramic Black colour option. The 5G moto mod will be available in the US exclusively in early 2019, though the company hasn’t revealed the price of it.
Moto Z3 specifications
The Moto Z3 runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and upgradable to Android P. It sports a 6” full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 Max Vision AMOLED display with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by a 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. It offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
For photography, the Moto Z3 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of two 12MP sensors, the primary sensor comes with an f/2.0 aperture, 1.25-micron pixel size while the secondary monochrome sensor offers Laser Autofocus, Color Correlated Temperature, and Zero Shutter Lag along with dual-LED flash. It also has depth-sensing AI photo features, including Cinemagraphs and support for Google Lens. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field-of-view. The front camera also equipped with facial recognition technology to unlock the device.
The Moto Z3 is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery with fast charging through the bundled 15W TurboPower charger. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, compass, and proximity sensor. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner placed on the right edge. It measures 156.5×76.5×6.75mm and weighs 156 grams.
