MP’s year-long battle with photopsia turned out to be ‘golf ball-sized’ tumour in brain

The National Cancer Institute explains that meningiomas are the most common type of primary brain tumour.

“However, higher grade meningiomas are very rare,” explains the health body.

Nickie underwent surgery to have the tumour removed but a small amount of the growth was left attached to the vessel to prevent neurological damage.

Brain imaging has since shown that the remaining tumour has since disappeared, much to her doctor’s surprise.

Despite making a full recovery, the mother-of-two still suffers the occasional bout of blurred vision, once or twice a year.
