Australian Olympian Nathan Sobey has sent out a message to fans pleading for information after having his bronze medal stolen from his home in a break-in.

Sobey was a part of the Boomers squad that won Australia’s first men’s basketball medal at last year’s Tokyo Olympics, but now fears he may have seen the last of his prized possession.

“Unfortunately last night, our house was broken into and my bronze medal was stolen along with some other small things,” Sobey wrote on Twitter.

“If anyone out there has any information please let us know!”

The medal was stolen from Sobey’s Brisbane home on Saturday night, around the same time the 31-year-old was in action for the Brisbane Bullets in an NBL clash against the Tasmania JackJumpers at the Queensland State Netball Centre.

Sobey played in all six of Australia’s contests at the Tokyo Games, averaging 2.8 points per game while converting 50 per cent of his three-point shots.

The bronze medal achieved in Tokyo was Sobey’s second medal with Australia’s men’s basketball team after a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Sobey returned to the NBL in 2019 after stints in Europe with PAOK and SIG Strasbourg and was named to the All-NBL First Team in 2021.
